Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said the relocation of the Polish military contingent was carried out "after an assessment of operational conditions and potential threats."

"All Polish soldiers have been evacuated from Iraq," he said in a post on X, adding that most personnel "are already back in Poland or on their way home," while some remain in Jordan.

The operation was conducted in coordination with NATO allies and overseen by the Operational Command of Poland's Armed Forces, he said.

“The priority was to ensure the maximum safety of soldiers and personnel,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

The Operational Command said the relocation was a response to the evolving security situation in the Middle East and was based on ongoing operational assessments.

It added that part of the contingent remains in the region in a secure location, allowing Poland to continue advisory missions and support Iraqi security forces.

The Command said the operation was carried out in close cooperation with NATO allies, ensuring coordination and continuity of assigned tasks.

The situation in the region remains under constant monitoring, it added.
